Arakliti family gift to babies
Michael’s daughter, Jo Withers, said: “We chose the special care baby unit as it’s such a worthwhile cause. Life is so fragile and we want to help protect it.”
The event consisted of 18 holes of golf followed by a dinner, presentation and auction, raising more than £3,000 towards an NIRS monitor for the special care baby unit. The £15,000 state-of the-art non-invasive equipment measures oxygen levels in any part of a babys’ body giving an instant diagnosis and so speeding up treatment where necessary.
At a cheque presentation on the unit, charge nurse Rob Tuffs said: “We are very grateful to the Arakliti family for all their hard work. The money raised will be very well used for the benefit of our patients.”
