Bosom Pals Appeal Launch Success

The evening event, which was hosted and sponsored by Adventure Island, was the perfect start to the Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation’s new appeal to raise £750,000 for the latest in high-tech screening and diagnostic equipment for the breast unit at Southend University Hospital.

Hundred’s of supporters wore pink, musicians gave their time free of charge and Rossi’s Ice-cream produced a unique pink vanilla ice-cream donating all their profits to the appeal.

Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation chairman, Colin George, officially open the new appeal followed by a presentation from the Bosom Pals committee of a cheque for £175,000.

Bosom Pals has been fundraising for the breast unit and providing support to women with breast cancer for more than 20 years and their more recent fundraising efforts have focused on raising funds to bring digital mammography to Southend University Hospital.

Mr Colin George said: “On behalf of the Charitable Foundation I would like to say how delighted I to be involved with this very worthwhile cause and our deepest thanks to Bosom Pals for their outstanding effort.  This will greatly benefit the women of Essex by raising awareness and reducing death rates.  We are indebted to Adventure Island for hosting this special event and to all the volunteers who have helped to make the evening such a success.”
